The Minister-in-charge of Love Congregation, Rev. Dr Joseph Kofi Aidoo delivered a talk on Adolescent Mental Health at the Presbyterian College of Education (Kibi) on 29th of September 2023,
as part of the Taifa District Junior Youth Fellowship Camp Meeting, themed; Christ in You, the hope of Glory;
Empowered to be an Agent of Transformation for service.
In his address he stated that, adolescent mental health is a critical topic.
Adolescents typically aged 12 to 18, often face various challenges that can
impact their mental well-being. These challenges may include:
Academic Pressure: The stress of school, exams, and expectations can be overwhelming.
Peer Pressure: Adolescents may feel pressured to conform to social norms, which can lead to
anxiety and depression.
Identity and Self-esteem: Developing a sense of self and self-worth can be challenging during this period.
Hormonal Changes: Puberty brings hormonal fluctuations that can affect mood and behavior.
Family Issues: Conflicts at home, changes in family dynamics, or divorce can cause emotional distress.
